abhyanga treatments with zoe

  • Bamarang Bush Retreat 145 Bamarang Road Bamarang, New South Wales, 2541 Australia (map)

abhyanga is an ancient ayurvedic oil massage that harmonises the body, mind, and spirit, promoting deep healing and rejuvenation.

Joining us at Bamarang Bush Retreat is Ayurvedic practitioner and postpartum doula Zoe, of Solace Ayurveda. If you feel drawn to give your body some extra love with an Abhyanga treatment, a deeply nourishing full-body oil massage, we encourage you to book a session. As Zoe will also be preparing the Ayurvedic food for the retreat, her availability for treatments is particularly limited, so we recommend booking early.

Abhyanga is one of India's oldest and most cherished therapies, a full body massage using warm, herb infused oil chosen to suit your unique constitution. Long, flowing strokes work the oil deep into the tissues, easing tension held in the muscles while gently supporting the lymphatic system and the body's own pathways of detoxification. As the nervous system softens into rest, attention to the marma points, the subtle energy centres of the body, allows anything held or stored to loosen and release. What remains afterwards is a felt sense of vitality, spaciousness and ease that lingers long after the massage itself is over. For those with a meditation practice, it offers the perfect support, its purifying and expansive nature opening the way to deepen spiritual connection.

Zoe is a Vedic meditator, Ayurvedic practitioner and therapist, and postpartum doula who has spent the last three years bringing Abhyanga and traditional Ayurvedic bodywork to her clients. Her approach is deeply nurturing yet strong, intuitive and shaped by her years of study, travel, and her own lived experience of these medicines. She has trained under world-renowned Ayurvedic doctors, and continued her education by undergoing Ayurvedic postpartum doula training with Soma Shakti, taking courses for professional development under the likes of Julie Bernier and Nidhi Pandya, trained as a herbalist under Sajah Popham, and traditional training with Padma Raju while in India under her care. She has been travelling to India regularly since 2018, and spent time studying traditional Hatha Yoga, Meditation and Ayurveda all over the country and in the yogic lands of Nepal and Sri Lanka.

Last year, Zoe undertook a panchakarma cleanse in India with the Raju family, an experience that showed her first-hand just how potent these treatments can be. It deepened her understanding of how to adapt her practice so the transcendental aspect of the work can shine through, allowing herself to become a clear vessel for the subtleties of a physical treatment that come from somewhere beyond what we can touch.

Zoe believes that when Abhyanga is done with the proper intention and a clear state of being, it can be equally nourishing and healing for the practitioner as it is for the client.

Bookings can be made via text message or call 0416 385 222, or email hello@solaceayurveda.com.au. You can also book directly here.
