Just 2.5 hours from Sydney and Canberra, Bamarang Bush Retreat is a family-owned-and-operated business set on 120 acres of ancient bushland in a prehistoric river valley with handmade accommodation, offering privacy and seclusion amongst the gumtrees alongside the Shoalhaven River, 10 minutes west of Nowra.

ken & betsy
Betsy and Ken Hillers bring a grounded blend of long-term practice, deep study, and a love of community to their teaching. Betsy is a Vedic Meditation teacher based on California’s Central Coast, where she leads courses, group meditations, and annual retreats. Having practised Vedic Meditation daily for more than a decade, she’s devoted to helping others discover a technique that has profoundly improved her own life, while weaving connections across cultural and spiritual traditions so people feel more enriched, more connected, and more able to recognise the sacred in everyday life. Ken was trained as a geneticist and worked as a researcher and professor until his recent retirement; he learned Vedic Meditation in 2016 and has appreciated its benefits on a daily basis since, and in 2026 he is completing his training to become a certified initiator of Vedic Meditation. Betsy returns to HERE In Nowra after leading the 15 Day Rounding Retreat in 2024.

Barron and Rachel Hanson are married, parents, Vedic Meditation teachers and the founders of HERE in Nowra. After experiencing how meditation brought greater calm, energy and adaptability to their own busy lives, they were inspired to share the practice with their community. Together, they have helped hundreds of people learn a simple, practical technique for navigating careers, family life, uncertainty and stress. Their approach is warm, grounded and accessible, meeting people where they are and helping them reconnect with themselves, their families and their community. Combined they have led dozens of rounding retreats, large and small. Their mission is to create the best possible experience for all participants.

Sabi, a Vedic meditator, panchakarma therapist, is an exceptionally talented Ayurvedic chef whose culinary creations are renowned for their deep flavors, intuitive instincts, and unwavering high standards. His food is not only nourishing and creative but also leaves people feeling great during our retreats. Every dish, jam, chutney, dessert and drink is prepared from scratch, so there are no fillers or preservatives. You’ll leave feeling exceptionally looked after. Everything is prepared with Ayurvedic principles, truly rustic, heritage-style cooking using clean ingredients.
